Aarane private prescription

I need a private prescription for Aarane inhaler. I normally get it from my GP but last time I requested it I was told they cant write prescriptions for abroad (it was not my regular GP. At the moment I don't even know which one it is). I don't understand this. I am going to buy it.

Hi red247

Which country are you originally from, and where are you currently? It sounds like you’re not in your home country rn, and if that’s the case most doctors won’t send prescriptions across borders... and every country works differently and may have different drugs available etc

(Case in point I’m pretty sure (i may be wrong) that aarane is only really available in Germany, and isn’t available in the uk. However the uk has something similar called intal)

Hello,

I am from Germany, but I am now living in UK (for 28 years)

So you get your prescriptions from the UK?

Yes I get the prescriptions from UK on NHS. I know that I have to request a private one for Aarane. According to the NHS the GP has to issue a private prescription if the medcine is not accepted by the NHS. I just need the private prescription and the GP I asked in our surgery (there are several) said they can't do this. I am gettting desperate as I slowly run out of Aarane and not feeling too well.

Ugh (sorry was just trying to get my brain round the situ 😅). Have you tried asking for an appt with the specific doc that usually prescribed it? I suspect it’s a case of confusion as it was a doc who doesn’t know you that you spoke to. Alternatively have you tried the Intal version? That they should be able to prescribe (just an idea if your aarane runs out before you can get a new one!)

Otherwise I hope you find someone somewhere to prescribe it!

Agree with EmmaF91 advice. Perhaps worth speaking to Asthma UK Helpline about this. How long have you been on this medication?

Thank you very much. That is a good idea. I will talk to the Asthma Healthline.
