What tests are needed before starting biologics for asthma ?

I might be starting biologics treatment for my uncontrolled asthma and require some tests to be done I was just wondering what these tests will involve ?

To qualify for biologicals, you have to satisfy certain criteria. The criteria differs between different biological treatments.

I had my tests in December for Xolair. I satisfied all criteria except for that because my asthma had proven to be so difficult, they needed clear “proof” that it was asthma.

The first test I had was Reversibility Spirometry. The test came back negative. Then I had a Methacholine Challenge test, following this, Xolair was approved.

Do you know what test you’ll be having?

No I don’t know what tests that I will be having but received a phone call today to say that my consultant is thinking of putting me on the treatment ?

That’s great news. Each patient case is different so you may not have to undergo any tests
