This sounds lovely in principle since I have always enjoyed baking but lately since people have gotten obsessed with sourdough they have been using excess amounts of flour. I have not been able to get a single bag of flour since lockdown began as I am not allowed to leave the premises and the supermarket are always out. I just wanted ONE bag to last me the month as bread is also out of stock and ended up paying £7 for a bag that was originally less than £1 on eBay for it. Some 1.5kg bags are going for £15-20. I am also on an extremely low income to begin with (£3.90 an hour) and just had my hours cut due to my ill health so will have no money left over after bills this month.
Have fun, but please be considerate with the amount you are using. Since this trend started I think some people have gone overboard and see the flour as a plaything (well more those who have been making Play-Dog for their kids) rather than an essential item as much as I also see baking as a hobby. Please try to make it stretch. I had even been repurposing leftover flour that was dusting for something I had deep fried into a fried bread by adding water and am currently using a few tablespoons at a time of a bag I found in the back of the cupboard in my accommodation that expired last year before cracking open the new bag. I swear cocaine is cheaper at this point if you look at the resale market.
