Morning congestion?

Anyone have a problem with phlegmy ‘clumps’ in the morning ( in my nose)? Seems to be a legacy of a bad cold in November which hasn’t resolved. I am on Carbocisteine and wondered if it’s something to do with that.

My partner who is 57, has asthma, and is a care worker suffers from heavy congestion and much phlegm in the mornings, taking over an hour to clear her airways and breathe properly before going to work. She has asthma.

I too suffer to a lesser extent, and believe that mine is due to phlegm production in the upper sinus draining into my airways overnight. I have suffered this annoying ailment from a young age, but now, possibly unrelated, I have fairly severe COPD.

i have also suffered hard mucus in my nose for years, due I should think from my long term sinus problem, and I struggle to clear it before I go to bed as lmpossible for me to sleep if unable to breathe through my nose.

Some preparations containing menthol do help a little, Olbas oil is fairly good, I put some on the area twixt top lip and nose ... a moustache helps to soak it up and holds a goodly amount ... :)

Yes, nasal congestion is an issue. I suspect that for me at least it's to do with allergies - house dust, pollens, pollution, all of which we have here. And yes, about an hour after waking up, sometimes with a post-nasal plug which has to be fought. I have found that sitting up helps, gravity gets rid of most of it. Also hot drinks, like coffee, tea, help to move the clumps. (I think the heat reduces the stickiness.) You might find a nasal spray helps.

I struggled with post nasal drip, constant need to blow my nose and sinus problems until my asthma nurse prescribed Fexofenadine. Almost overnight I saw a dramatic improvement.
