Flouride/asthma/reflux?

Anybody know if there is any connection between flouridation of the water supply and increase in acid reflux and asthma symptoms? My symptoms increased after moving to another area from one where my water supply was flouride free.

I think the jury is probably out a bit on this one. I seem to remember this being a big issue a few years ago in my locality (general rather than specifically about reflux). I think there might be some limited evidence in some cases that it can cause reflux & of course, reflux can both mimic and trigger asthma.

So, from me anyway, the answer is...I don't really know! It may be you have a sensitivity to it or it may be something else that's changed as part of your relocation. I suppose an obvious test for you personally would be to switch to bottled water for a while & see if that helps.

I had planned the bottled water idea, interested to find out if anyone else was affected by tap water.

I can’t cope with fluoride in water supply, or toothpaste. It provokes my asthma because I’m salicylate sensitive, and there are salicylates in fluoride. Never noticed an increase in acidity though.
