Fluid like feeling in the chest after having chest pains. Doctor says it is acid reflux but I’m not convinced. How can I tell?

Hi, recently I was taken to hospital after having chest pains. I got told everything was fine and it was most likely acid reflux. However, I am not convinced by this and believe it is something different. My symptoms are a very slightly wheezy breath and a (what feels like fluid) in my chest. Whilst lying down, I can feel a bubbling sort of feeling as I take breaths in.

I do have asthma but haven’t had any issues for years. Could this be related and is it anything to worry about?

I had acid reflux and a chest infection but my asthma was hiding it. Try some milk and if it dislodges then it's acid reflux. If not go to the doctor for further medical checkup

Reflux is known to produce asthma like symptoms or to actually trigger off asthma, and reflux gets worse when you lay down. The best way to work out if it’s that is to take some reflux meds (omeprazole, lansoprazole, ranitidine, gaviscon etc etc... you can get the last 2 over the counter 😉). If it calms down then it probs is that! But whether it does or doesn’t it’s definitely something to see you GP about

I’ve recently had a flare up of my asthma( chest pains, mild/moderate wheeze most of the time) that wasn’t responding to salbutamol or oral steroids. I was treated in the first instance for silent reflux but found after two weeks of treatment my breathing was actually worse (peak flow dropped considerably). It turns out I actually have chronic sinusitis and the post nasal drip had been irritating my lungs which has lead to inflammation. I am still uncomfortable usually in the mornings and at night but i’ve been told that it can take up to 6 months to clear up.

I would advise not to drink milk as causes muscus and it's acid forming in the stomach. I've had a lot of experience with both and did the research. I certainly improved following that option. Liz
