Blood pressure medication

Hi fellow sufferers- a thought just occurred to me that I have been taking blood pressure medication for many years now - and perhaps coincidentally began suffering from shortness of breath some time after starting medication which was Nefidepine. I was then diagnosed with Asthma and given medication. I always mentioned my shortness of breath to my GP / Nurse for flu jabs etc: but told not to worry.!!

However, since my last visit to my GP when I again mentioned the side effect of my medication - I have been changed to Letcanidipine - which does not mention shortness of breath as a possible side effect,!!

Has anyone had any similar thoughts - particularly now I read flu jabs could be having an effect on the increase in Asthma diagnosis.

I have high blood pressure & take Amlodipine for it. However I know nothing about the two medicines you name. I had asthma first but have had no problems with the Amlodipine.

Have not been prescribed Amiodipine so cannot comment.

However, I was prescribed Nefidepine which their leaflet warns may cause breathing problems. A number of years later my breathing got steadily worse and I was diagnosed with Asthma...!?! Discussing this with my GP and Nurses my medication was changed to Lercanidipine which does not mention causing breathing problems on it's leaflet..?!?

Perhaps after taking Lercanidipine for a few months my breathing may improve- or maybe not - but why the warning on the Nefidepine leaflet if not to be taken seriously..?!?
