Bronchial Wall Thickening

My 18 yr old son has recently had a chest CT scan. He had a life threatening asthma attack last September, with bilateral pneumothoraces, silent chest and peri cardiac arrest. His Consultant wanted to make sure both lungs are fully healed, with no weak spots, before flying.

The results have come back and thankfully the scan shows no abnormalities to cause the lung collapses and also that they are fully healed.

It does say he has some ‘minor bronchial wall thickening in line with his asthma diagnosis’ but nothing else abnormal on the scan.

Does anyone know what this means? Is it permanent or reversible? Is it likely to get worse as he gets older? (He was only ever diagnosed with mild asthma before the attack in September). Is it something that could cause him problems in later life?

Thanks for any information.
