Consultant appointment

Evening all.

Well after getting my consultant appointment through for July after an urgent referral they rang me this week to go in today as they wanted to see me earlier.

They have changed my fostair 200/6 to symbicort 200/6 so I can take it more than twice a day. They've started me on low dose long term steroid. They want to rule out bronchectasis so have requested CT scan and want me to go back for full lung function test. Back to see them in a month.

I have to say after today my somewhat dwindling faith has been restored. The consultant was lovely and thorough. Although on the one hand I feel a bit sad as it's definately not going anywhere and is quite severe at least they are getting me sorted. I think I need to stop thinking about what life before asthma was like and wondering why and how I started age 30 just so suddenly as this is what is getting to me and instead accept it for what it is and look how I can live with it.

All in all feel the most positive I have in months 😊

So good to hear you are feeling more positive. It is a shock mentally and physically when we get these incurable conditions and of course we grieve for what we were but once acceptance comes then we can start living our new lives good luck

Thanks starveycat, that's actually a really good way of looking at it. I never thought of it like that. I suppose I've been grieving for the last 7 months.
