Hi is anyone else on a subcut infusion for their asthma need advise.

its so nice to find someone who knows what am going through,I not well at all my chest is playing up big time seeing my consultant this morning had a c t scan last week find out results to day. I bet u have ur low days , do u find it hard to explain to people how ill u are do u find ppl saying asthma oh only asthma does my head in do u have ur s in all the time. I wanted to ask where do u get ur needles from as am having trouble getting my butterflys the ones that are like a venflon all ur left is with a tube in ur stomach ,rather than the needle left in that use to be a right pain. Where do live many thanks dee

Hi Dee

I am from Scotland and get my sets from the district nurse. I agree with you the newer butterfly needles make a massive difference they are not uncomfortable and don’t get sore when you bend lol. You can keep them in for five days or so.

They just make life easier for you.

tired infection after infection only sleeping a couple of hours at a time keep waking up ,just did speed omature and peack flow 190 one off normal 150, funny I come from Scotland Dundee all my family live up there.

bye bye sringe driver getting one of the new pumps the hospital are going to pay for it about time. Also blood levels were high if high again I tick all the boxes will try new drug one injection a month, u have to tick all the boxes as its over a thousand pound per injection lots of money feel a bit happier now going home to try and get some sleep.

Hi

I am on a syringe driver it’s set up for me so it’s easy to use I have seen the crono drives and they look great nice and compact. They will set it up for you so you shouldn’t have any problem with it.

I use sub cut terbutaline continuesly. I use quick sets that go in at 90 degrees & have never yet managed to pull them out, but I did arrange to have the ones with longer tubing. All of my quicksets and other bits are delivered to me at home via a home care arrangement the hospital has. I’m lucky as I also use the small crono pump & not one of the chunky syringe drivers!

hi how does the crono work easy , also are u left with the needle inside or is it similar to the butterfly u left with a tube instead of the needle.

Yes I’ve found them easy to use. I can change all of my settings and doses myself but they can be pre-set & locked by the hospital I believe.

There are different versions of the crono (mine allows me to set flow rate or time, the standard ones you set only by time I think!) & the size syringes they take. These syringes are specific to the Crono & are only used once. You can also set partial filled syringe volumes etc.

My quicksets are the plastic canula that remain in. Quicksets go in at 90 degrees but you can get others that go in at 45 degrees.

I’ve never had to use the metal ones. How long they remain in depends on skin & sites. Mine don’t tend to last much more than a couple of days max as I have terrible skin.
