I have been asthmatic since I was about 12. I would say it is well controlled.
I am however having investigations for being very breathless following pneumonia 18 months ago. eg cooking a meal makes me very uncomfortable and I gasp for breath but I just carry on until the meal is ready.
Will it damage my heart if I carry while very breathless?

Pneumonia fills the lung's alveoli with fluid, hindering oxygenation. Gasping for breath could be you are clearing the lungs of moisture. Or it could be you are not clearing out the air in the lungs because you are breathing with the shoulder muscles instead of the diaphragm.
