I often see reference to various stages of Asthma on here. I’ve never heard of this before?? Are there ‘stages’??

Loosely yes there are... asthma management and control is often referred to as the stepwise asthma management plan... which is a guide medical professionals use to gauge required treatment based on severity... the idea is that you get the condition under control and step back (reducing medication) until you find the lowest dose of medicine that gains the maximum control...
For example the stepwise starts at step one which is infrequent use of a blue inhaler as and when
Step 2 is an additional inhaled steroid up to a number of mcg but relevant to severity of condition
And so on and so on until you end up at the top of the steps which is high dosage inhaled steroids, oral prednisolone and other add-on therapies (pretty severe I would imagine)
