Tachycardia has a lot of causes, but I don't think it is dangerous in itself, just that it is wasted effort (but at least you're improving your circulation, rather like exercising!). I looked it up and was surprised that asthma isn't a cause because I imagined that your heart rate would increase if you're not getting enough oxygen. I think you should see your doctor about it to establish the underlying cause.

Some forms of tachycardia can be completely normal. From experience I’ve always had a fast heart rate since I was 14 (now 27). But I would see you’re gp if you’re worried just to put your mind at rest. Mine is between 102-110 at rest and when I’m not well it goes to 135-180 which is completely normal for me. All it means is that when I’m in hospital I have to wear a portable heart monitor to keep an eye on it for 24hours. Hope you get to the bottom of it xxx

If you or your GP are concerned about they can arrange for a 24 hour heart monitor to check what is happening and why or do an ECG to see if your heart is beating normally. If your oxygen levels are fine in your blood and you are not especially short of breath when exercising then there is probably nothing to worry about.

Anxiety and stress or too much coffee can cause heart rate to rise! It isn't dangerous in itself only if there are other symptomes of disease. Many people get a fast heart rate from time to time. Just watch a scary movie and see what happens!
