Hi Chook. I'm on Symbicort. Is it the same. I don't get any cramps with it.
I'm on symbicort 200 2 puffs twice a day and yes I do get terrible night cramps often. I do think it's a known side effect but also put it down to my age!!
Yes, since i have been on symbicort i am even more cramp prone than I was before. It was lots worse when I was also on prednisolone.
Yes, torture, and not just at night. It's not the cramp that you can flex away either. I described walking as 'like the devil is hanging on to my calves. After getting cramp from another med (can't remember brand) I went back to Qvar. (a recent letter from cons > gp was saying i shd be on a combined med - hope they find one!)
I get cramp in my left foot for some reason. Taking iron tablets seem to help but I don't like taking iron tablets. It's a difficult one.
yes, I got leg cramps at night when I used it
Yes, same here, my Hubby got awful leg cramps mainly at night.
Dr doubled his dose guessing his breathlessness was down to asthma. (it wasn't, but long story) He had been on symbicort for years then went onto the higher dose for two years, he had two years of cramps that got worse over time till they were excruciating. Dr showed him how to do certain leg exercises which were no good. We put him on vitamin D3 known to help asthma and then he said he felt like he didn't have asthma any more and hadn't taken his inhalers. Oddlys Straight away his cramps stopped. (but not his breathlessness,) That was back in the warmer months of the year, but come winter he has needed his inhaler more, (only needs his rescue inhaler now, not symbicort his preventer inhaler,) I have only just twigged that maybe he needs a higher dose of D3 as in winter there is no sun to make vitamin D. Also somewhere on a 'side effects' of medication website I read that symbicort should only be used for a short while, not intended for long time use and that it can cause asthma. ???
Sorry I have no link to this website, you will have to check it out yourself to make sure what I am saying is true Chook-123.
