Vcd
Hello Hay133,
I assume the vcd is caused by the gerd? I had gerd whilst taking steroid tablets which caused me a lot of problems, a chance blood test showed I was anaemic and after an endoscopy I was found to have Barrett's esophagus and given PPI's, now lansoprazole 30mg daily. Almost all of my problems have now disappeared.
Do you take PPI's?
Thanks for your reply yes i do have gerd i have a hiatis hernia and no drugs will touch the vcd or gerd at moment the problem i had was i was treated for asthma for four years even though i didnt have it and chest infections as the doctors thought this is what i must have the other prob is that vcd attacks can be brought on going from warm to cold being by strong smells so i try to stay away from triggers but they find me
Sometimes like im breathing through a straw ive been on gaviscon omeprazole and steriods
The following Patient Testimonial, about 25 paragraphs down, it tells how breathing exercises will not help if it is caused by GERD. my.clevelandclinic.org/ccf/... It only tells of getting together a team which includes a speech/language pathologist. Yet on the previous page, under "How VCD is treated," my.clevelandclinic.org/serv... it tells that speech therapy techniques to control the vocal cords is the main treatment. So confusing. Perhaps that is the only thing you can do? It says it can be caused by various things and not just one. I was not aware of this condition and it terrifies me to think of getting it. I have been diagnosed with COPD.
Copd is also terrible my dad had that its very simular in many ways
Breathings bad again now on steriods and antibiotics
