Hello everyone here, first I'd like to thank everyone who appreciated my idea's and liked my article" asthma and walking", posted on August 02. Cheers.

Let me tell you all something, the main reason for asthma attacking us is that, we are not using our vital capacity (the greatest volume of air that can be expelled from the lungs after taking the deepest possible breath) of our lungs to maximum level. The reason is we are habituate to take short breaths irrespective of profession( office level work or any athletes ) , I have seen many doctors, who take short breaths, which is not good. Everything has its own capacity in its own way, same way the Lungs do. We should make our body habituate to take deep, long and slow breaths, so that the alveoli ( which are small balloon shaped inside our lungs) get expand to maximum, you all must be thinking that why I kept using word "maximum" here all the time, yes breathing is all about this word. You should take long, deep and slow breaths through nose, so that the lungs and its each and every corner ( alveoli) gets filled with proper oxygen, inflate the lungs properly by taking maximum amount of air in, now hold your breath for few seconds(2-3 or 3-4 seconds, better count with in your mind, go slowly as the watch second hand goes in watches), don't breath out (exhale) quickly, than exhale it this time through mouth with pursed lip breathing pattern , means deflate the air out of lungs. Than repeat the same process, you'll see the difference. Remember, this technique is not only for persons who has asthma but also for who are not effected with asthma. This technique of breathing has really helped to many of my patients. Last but not least always maintain a proper posture when doing breathing, this will help your lungs to expand to again that word "maximum" level. Let's allow lungs to use its elastic property properly.

Do you know why junk food is called with that name? Coz it adds junk but nothing to our body, junk is always a trash, with no nutritional value, no protein.

Our motto should be - Take long breaths and live long.

Hi, healthwish, thanks for showing interest in my post. You need to do this in the morning, than slowly make it practice to bring it into your everyday breathing.

Cheers.

you are fantastic a generous noble man

I loved your post. I'm doing a presentation on breathing on Sept. 28 at the Greenfield YMCA in Massachusetts, USA and I'm going to use your demo about breathing through the nose, not the mouth. I really could feel the difference. Perhaps you would be interested in my book, "Running with Asthma: An Asthmatic Runner's Memoir." In the book I share many techniques that helped me breathe and run better. Go to PeacefulWarrior.com

for excellent deep breathing calisthenics. My book is available on amazon.com. Check out my website runnerswithasthma.com and email me at runnerwithasthma@gmail.com.

Hi runnerwithasthma2559, I am glad to know that you like my technique and I appreciate it.

Yes I am looking forward to get one of the copy of your book. I tried those techniques on my patients who are athletes, army personal and of course asthmatic. Its breathing through nose( inhaling) and exhaling after 2-3 seconds through mouth ( through pursed lip breathing technique, slowly), Initially it feels difficult but as time passes by the body will get used to this breathing pattern. Yes, please go ahead for the demo and do let me know the response of it.

thanks once again you, I got your mail id , I'll be in touch.

regards.
