Hello!

Sorry youre going through a rough patch at the moment. The coughing may be a good sign as it may mean that some unwanted gunk in your chest is being got rid of. Insomnia is a common side effect of pred so it is advisable to take it as early as possible in the day. As for the nausea I dont know to be honest. Have you got a leaflet in the box with possible side effects etc. Otherwise you could try googling it lol?

I hope you feel better soon.

Hello there,

I think we are all familiar with the lack of sleep on pred! Hopefully it is reducing the inflammation in your lungs and helping you to cough all the gunk up thats down there, so I would take that as a good thing.. :)

Rose's suggestion of taking it as early as possible in the morning is a good one, but also make sure you take it with food. Pred should not be taken on an empty stomach as it can cause stomach problems - I wonder if that is why you are feeling sick?

Lynda :)

Hi Tyber,

Someone called it 'predsomnia' which i think is perfect for it!! lol :)

I have to have the little red coated (gastro resist is the official name) pred as the white ones give me really horrible acid in my stomach and make me feel very sick.

As Lynda suggests eating with them does help but if you ever need them again, its worth asking for the red ones (although Drs don't like prescribing them as much as they are more expensive).

Hope you feel better soon.

I used to love the red ones, they tasted like smarties :D - the non enteric ones dissolve really quick and are so bitter! ugh. Its unlikely a GP will prescribe enteric coated, they will just tell you to take them with food.. but its worth a go ;)

Lynda

I've never had the enteric coated ones, I'd much rather have smarties flavour! Why is it, you can take them with the biggest glass of water but they still manage to hide in your mouth and start to dissolve, yuck!

LOL gross isnt it! Even worse with a hot cup of tea, dont even go there!! :D

Not sure I'm following - does this mean you were at A&E last night on day 6 of pred or that you went to A&E six days ago and that was how you were prescribed prednisolone?
