Mould and fungus spores high?

I heard on the radio that this has been one of the worst years for mould and fungus spores in years. Does anyone know if this is true? I'm having a bad flare up for first time in ages and as I only ever get asthma in summer due to pollens I'm wondering if the mould could be the cause this time. I know there's not a lot you can do but knowing the cause is half the battle. For me anyway.

I've read that mould is killed off by first frost so I'm praying for this icy weather on Friday. >:oP

I have found that the spore levels have been bad this year, having said that our house was flooded out and we also live next to an allotment so have lots of compost heaps with lots of mould in... So the levels tend to be higher than the average anyway.

You can ask your GP for a referall to an allergy specialist to have skin prick tests or RAST blood tests done to see if you are allergic to moulds.

Treatment wise it tends to be antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops. In certain circumstances it can also mean taking antifungal medication and steroids on a permanent basis.

You get mould all year round as it is ubiquitous in the environment. Normally around october/november time the levels start to ease up a little.
