Chest infection AGAIN.....

On my third chest infection within the last 2 months... sick of it now!!

But this time round im in so much dicomfort!

I had a virus type thing at the beginning of the week, go to doctors - get sent home! Go back the next day, giving antibiotics get thobbed off and sent home again!

Im up coughing all night, my chest feels like a stampeed of elephants crushing it, what can i do? I take my usual medication (preventor, reliever and singluair) as well as the antibiotics! I feel like i need something pumping oxygeon in me just to feel normal!

I cant be the only one feeling like this? My doctors are useless!! :(

Hi Smellz

I would normally expect that antibiotics take a couple of days to kick in and start to deal with the infection, but by that time I would expect my lungs to be in a world of their own and doing their own thing.

A lot of people have an action plan (I don't, but I do use common sense about increasing the amount of symbicort I use and then I tend to go by my peak flow - if it keeps going down or my symptoms get worse I'm back to the GP.

That's about it, really - if you are worried go back to your GP. At this time on a Saturday you'd need to use the out of hours service but don't let that put you off. You might even find that you see someone who's more helpful than your own doctor.
