Hi Amanda,
It's normal to feel like that when you don't know exactly what's going on - it can be really scary. But know that we are all here for you to help you get through this tough time you're having. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
Feel free to PM any time,
Shy1. xx
Let me know if you need to step back again - happy to do any more updates and you know where I am, any time.
Amazed even with my slightly weird situation though how often someone has experienced something similar, so always worth searching/asking on here for the collective knowledge!
Also meant to say (and putting this out here because I don't know if this depends where you are/on the cons) - can you get any tests before your appt? I know you don't have too long a wait but wondering if it will save time if you've had some of the basics first. On the other hand they may just ask you to have it all again anyway - before I was referred the first time my GP sent me for a chest X-ray, then when I got to cons appt about a month and a half later had to have another one because 'that was a month ago' - expect this also with things like ECGs. Just wondering if anyone else can help you on that and whether it's worth seeing if there's anything you can get done while you wait.
Thanks for updating, Amanda. I especially appreciate it as you're obviously finding things very difficult at the moment, which is understandable. It's a lot to process, but know that we're all here for you if and when you want us.
I hope that the appointment with the consultant goes well. I would recommend going in there with a list of questions that you want to ask, or things for which you want a plan. I find if I don't know exactly what I want from every appointment, that I tend to come out of the appointment feeling a bit disappointed and as though I haven't achieved what I wanted. Often the doctors have a different agenda and different ideas of what is important, so unless you make it very clear what is important to YOU, they won't ever know, and will just go along with their own plan!
Sending much love - PM if there's anything I can do, or if you just want some sympathy!
Wishes
Thinking of you and in time everything will settle. Its so un nerving not knowing what could happen but it will settle down.Hope your feeling a little better xxx
I totally understand what your going through, diagnosis will go round in curcles I still having that problem 3 years down the line. It seems everytiome you make progress something comes up and back to square one. Just take each appointment as it comes, follow your heart if it dosn't sound right then say.
Write down what you know ie when you go into costa if your CRP etc is high, wheeze etc. Recrod eposides in diary inculding what you where doing eating at the time
thank you all. I just cant cope at the moment with it all.
Im very confused at the moment as my gps are confused and i even confused a cons as having asthma symptoms but everything was normal my spirometry was above normal. Drs dont know why im getting tight or sob as so far all my tests have been fine. What more can i do
Amanda, I already knew you were in a fairly similar situation to me but didn't realise how similar - I could have written your last post myself, it seems we are in exactly the same boat with confusing medics and having normal tests but annoying symptoms! I'm not going to lie, it is hard as you already know but does make it a little easier for both of us I think having someone else in the same position, makes me feel like a bit less of a freak and hopefully, for you I can tell you what's coming up as I have been there.
I'm still confident that some day I will actually get a diagnosis and some constructive advice (not to mention medication that works) which means you will too - and if I get any closer I'll let you know in case that means a shortcut for you. (And don't let them persuade you it's all down to anxiety).
Here as ever on end of phone/PM xxx
Sorry to hear your having a lot of probs with diagnosis at the moment. At least you will get a thorough mot done, but sometimes it does take them a while to rule out one condition as several can give very similar symptoms. Or as you said the drs get confused whats going on as the body is very complex and so much can go wrong. But i hope they do eventually do give a proper diagnosis, as at least it gives you something to get your head around, when its all up in the air you dont know where you are or where your going. I hope you get sorted soon, keep us updated as its nice to know how your going. If i can help you in any way please pm me. I might have mentioned before try the auk helpline, they might be able to throw some light on the prob.
