Hallo to all you fellow wheezers. I just found this site today while I was trying to find information about which place in Britain has the best quality of air for people with chest problems. I remember some years ago being told that East Anglia was bad for asthmatics (just after I moved there) but I can't find any info. now. I'm thinking of moving, maybe near the coast in 2 years time, but I don't want to go somewhere that makes me worse.

Has antone got any links to that sort of info.? Or personal experience. What's it like where you are? I used to live in Peterborough and when the sugar factory was running, you could eat the air with a spoon.

Peter.

Hi Roger,

one of the things it depends on is what makes your asthma worse? If, like me, pollution is a problem, avoiding cities is useful. However, if you are all allergic-y and pollen gives you problems, the countryside can be challenging too. Beside the sea tends to have less pollen, so a beach with no nearby city would be my ideal, except that then I would be too far from hospital when I needed to go in!

I think the BBC website has air pollution data, and possibly the pollen data - if not I'm sure you could find it online.

Personally my chest was pretty good in Shetland!

My lungs were fantastic in the Falklands .... but a bit far to move to and expensive to get there!

Hi Peter,

Well it's definately not Stockport. Very high pollution levels I believe, mainly due to traffic and geographical lay of the land I think.

P.S. Full of 'crocs' too !!!!!! (very funny)
