I'm new to this forum, I don't have asthma but I am a respiratory physiologist working under some leading Respiratory consultants. We have a large, thriving lung function unit. I thoroughly enjoy the job but I've joined here to get an idea of how people feel about thing affecting their conditions as what we know is all book based and I'd like to understand it more from patients views.
Hope to see you all around.

Hi there Louise,
Welcome to Asthma UK, I hope you'll find us a friendly bunch. We have a lot of members with a range of severities of asthma from very mild to very severe.
I think it's great that you want to find out a little more about how asthma affects people's day-to-day lives - as you say, there is a limit to what you can learn from text books. A common complaint among our members is that consultants and asthma clinics tend to take a 'snap-shot' view of our condition, basing their assessment on how we are in clinic on one particular day, and focusing primarily on our lungs, rather than considering the realities of living with this condition, day in, day out.
Hope you find this site useful.
