steroid resiliant

hi,can anyone help?ive been on pred for 6 yrs now,having a maintenance dose of 10mg,since last admission in sept were i had iv methylpred,i cannot get below 20mg.went to see con last week and he seems to think that im becoming steroid resiliant,does that mean they wont work at lower dose or not at all?if not going to work,what will i take then?any ideas?love to hear from people going thru same thing and what effects does it have on them thanks
