Like most of us I take my peak flow regularly. Recently my peak flow has been really good but I haven't felt so well. Apparently I should be measuring my FEV-1. Does anyone else know about this?
Thanks!

A few of us with electronic peakflow meters do measure FEV1, but to say it's better than PF I don't know. My PF and FEV never correspond, high PF usually gives a lower FEV1 and vise versa, no idea why but both will drop when I'm not quite so well. FEV1 is supposed to be more accurate as it will tell you the condition of the smaller airways within the lungs, so in theory can be a better indicator of somethings wrong.
Hi Sky. I was given an electronic meter by a cousin who knows I like gadgets! I use it when I'm feeling a bit tight but my PF is ok. It generally shows a low FEV1 reading which picks up after I've had my reliever. It provides a bit more info about how I am, but I probably wouldn't have gone out and bought it unless the Dr said it was needed.
I have since been to the doctor and they have said to check my FEV-1.
Thanks for all the help
