Welcome to my blog!

I chose transcriptons

because it rhymes with prescriptions

and I'd like full descriptions

in my blogging postscriptions!

It's Easter Sunday today, and the long overdue Christmas blanket of snow arrived this morning. Apart from that the weather has been dry, but quite cold with huge white and grey clouds making their way overhead in the skies. Today I have been very conscious my rhinitis, and an almost inaudible asthmatic rumble on the chest, a bit like at the end of the film 'Zulu' - you know the warriors are there, just over the hill but for the moment it's safe! Today Jesus rises from the dead in all his glory later on TV, and I'm contemplating doing something like that myself. But not today, it's too cold - maybe tomorrow....when suddenly divine intervention brings me some sunshine!

It's rouhgly 5.45pm and looking out of the window I cannot believe that the clouds have vanished and blue sky stretches as far as the eye can see. I know what I must do and there is no time to be lost, as I quickly put my boots on, grab my coat, scarf, and wisely remember to also put my 'reliever' in my pocket.

A brisk walk for about 2 miles is not my best temporary remedy for rhinitis but it helps (My best one is a day by the coast, but when the weather is agreeable), and so I leave the house to go for it! There are not many cars on the road today and soon I am hot-footing it through an industial estate, and can vaguely feel the sunshine on my face and the air seems to taste very clean. I feel that my breathing excercise will do me some good. Pretty soon I am getting into rhythm breathing In, 2, 3, Hold, 2, 3, Out, 2, 3, Hold, 2, 3, In, 2, 3 and so on using my left foot stride as my counter. If I am in good shape I can increase the counts to 4, but not today. Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth is best but I manage a 50/50 approach sometimes breathing in through the scarf around my mouth!

Twenty minutes have now gone by and I perceive some larger clouds emerging in the distance and coming my way to spoil my fun, so I make the decision to turn back home. It's getting just a tad colder now and the old Zulus are beginning their faint shouts so I pack in my excercise and make my way home, being pelted by hail on my final steps to the front door. A quick coffee later I am witnessing a final delivery of snow. A quick wash after that and I am witnessing the faint sun once again claiming the skies before setting. Global warming or British weather, take your pick!
