methyl prednisolone infussion

hi could anyone tell me if theyve received the above.i had it over a peroid of 3 days last year,worked well,but am unsure in what circumstanses they give it?have only received it once and have been asthmatic forever,look forward to your replies

I had methyl pred instead of hydrocortisone in Canada cos that is what they use as their injectable steroid, but never here. I know they use it in bursts like that for some other conditions though, did it work for you?

My son had Methyl pred for several days at Rbh Picu in may this year, It was the first time he had een given it, I'm not sure why he was given that instead of iv hydocort though. At the time i just assumed it worked better?

I use IM Methyl pred 40-120mg if my peak flow drops below 200 for more than 6 hours. Have been using it for about 4 years now. My understanding of it is that if you use one kind of steriod for to long you can become resistant to it. Thats why i now take Betamethisone instead of pred.

Maybe you were showing some kind or resistance to the hydro. I know myself i could have bucketloads of the stuff to no avail.

methyl pred is often used in rheumatology for acute flares of rheumatoid arthritis it used to be called pulse therepy, not sure how popular is now as much better rheumatology drugs around.

Hi I had it once during a particularly bad attack once a day over about 8 days slowly weaning it down by dose. I was told it can be more effective than hydrocortisone and that it has less side effects at high doses. I found it worked well was swopped back to oral pred when it stopped
