Just wondering if anyone used the new windows 'Vista' software yet, and if so what you think of it.

I would wait a few months for all the bugs to be ironed out!

I wonder how many service packs that one will need!

Plus it is expensive at the mo.

Ludite Kate!

Not yet, most likely will do, but as always, it's bigger and more power and resource hungry than the last incarnation of windows!

As ever I shall wait about 12 months before considering upgrading. Most of the worst security problems will be ironed by then.

From what I've heard, the general opinion seems to be, ""meh""! Some of the new featurs (such as the funky 3D folder displays called ""Aero"") are really cool but use so much PC processing power that upgraders have looked at them, gone ""wow, that's great"", and then turned them off to speed up their PC.

Plus it's far too expensive at the moment. The upgrade that costs the same as an upgrade to Windows XP - Vista Home Basic - doesn't feature any of the cool new graphics features anyway!

No plans to upgrade at present but it does look pretty good graphically

I've got the free upgrade to send off for Vista Home Premium but as yet I haven't even got around to posting off for it - such is my rush to get it!

Got the chance to play on a brand new Dell laptop at the weekend that had come with Vista Home Premium as standard.

And good grief, wasn't it slow! It was without doubt the slowest machine I've used since people started putting Windows XP on machines designed for Windows 98.

The problem is, the actual specification of the new Dell laptop was better than the spec of the laptop I'm using now, which runs Windows XP. But speed-wise, there was no comparison.

My advice has to be: stick to Windows XP. Unless you've got a super-fast PC it's far and away the best bet at the moment.
