I'm Thankful For....

New thread - giving thanks to what or who has been good for us.

I will start with my DH who, on hearing me mutter about my shopping trip, has just shooed me through to have a seat with my feet up, then brought through a cooling drink of juice. Bless.

being able to go outside today and enjoy th weather without wheezing :)

long hot summer days, and being able to sleep with the bedroom windows wide open all night :D)

My friend B is very slowly but surely getting better.

Whatever happened to doctor patient confidentiality?

spending almost a full month NOT on preds! in thankful to the doc who gave me flixotide! (no more sinusitis, glandular fever and larangitis at the same time)

Going all nite without peeing....

Have been through a rotten 5 years... with things really bad around 2005 to 2007... was all alone and felt depths of loneliness and desperation... and then some wonderful people stepped into my life and helped me through... it was as if the Universe heard my cries and sent good people to take my hand... wouldn't be here without them...

I am grateful for my friends.

Bob - I've found the bad times bring out the real good friends and sometimes a new good friend will appear from an unexpected quarter. I have such a friend and I'm thankful for them.

Gussypoo - You made me laugh and think of that ad that's on the telly just now.

Elasticated knickers..... Dread to imagine life without them

Oh gussypoo! Thankful for the friends who bring a smile to my face especially when surreptitiously looking at this site on phone and have to try not to fall about laughing. :p

I am thankful for my hubby and three lovely kiddies - they put up with me disappearing to costa regularly and always remind me that it doesn't matter if I can't do certain things anymore. They just love me unconditionaly.

Thanks Guys

Nebulisers, having one at the mo, bliss

I am thankful for having lots of lovely friends on here,

dont know anyone with asthma in my real world but having brill

friends and support on here helps me stay positive and happy xxx

The chemist who had my prescription filled in next to no time with no fuss and the assistant with a cheery smile. This particular chemist does not 'do' methadone patients so no being pushed further and further down the queue as the 'meths' get priority. Tiny shop does get busy sometimes but you do feel you can talk to the pharmacist - he doesn't hide behind a high counter like the others. :)

I'm so thankful that the newer obesity management food from the vet is working. Our biggest cat reaching the target set by the vet who said she would like to see him get down to 7 kg. Check up yesterday - he's now 7.72 kg.

PS He'd started off at 10 kg.

Grannymo-claud is lovely and biggest cat ive seen,

could just cuddle him like a teddybear xxxx

edit-im thankful for the vet making my cat mason well again he was realy poorly

Glad mason is feeling a bit better. Claude tends to snuggle up to us and we have a photo of my DH using him as a pillow to GD's amusement.

Mp3 players. Great for returning ones sanity. ESP when wife, weans and other patients get rite on your nerves. Sure I must have been a recluse in a past life.....

happy times. Both daughters are expecting. Older daughter's second baby is due in the next few weeks. Younger daughter expecting her first in January.

such lovely news Grannymoo. something lovely to look forward to. xx

I'm Thankful For...

My nebuliser as it's kept me at home with my family instead of being stuck in a dirty hospital

I'm very thankful for my lovely daughter and granddaughter who look after me sooo well. I'm also thankful that I found out you need to boil the eggs for patients breakfast before you serve them. THEY DO NOT COME FROM THE KITCHEN COOKED!!! I only found this out after I gave out 28 raw eggs to the patients - can you picture the scene. I had a lot of cleaning that morning before I finnshed. THANKFULLY, I was a very junior student nurse and it was so long ago I'm hoping no-one remembers!!! lol LIZ x .

Oh GrannyMo forgot to say Congratulations on our lovely news.

im thankful for.....having a tv in my bedroom that has now a working remote....how did we manage before remotes...i was slimmer from all the getting up and down to channel surf (the 3 channels we had!) but its blooming lovely having a remote as my old one died on me....very thankful cos im not getting up today as not well through the night with my hiatus hernia and heavy chest so staying in bed with my lovelly remote xxxx

I am thankful for my faith in God. I am thankful that he is always with me no matter where i am. I am thankful that what ever happens in my life God already has it planned and there is a reason behind it even if i never know what that reason was. I am thankful for the person who asked me if i wanted Jesus to be my best friend. I am thankful that i have a spiritual family. I am thankful that my dad is really supportive of me! I am thankful for all the friends i have made on Asthma Uk. I am thankful that i have a fantastic medical team!

All the good friends I have made on this and other forums. Have such a lot of catching up to do after holiday where there was often no mobile signal and certainly no Internet hotspot. Came home to be almost instantly cut off again as problem at the switch board and broadband off for what seemed like forever. Back on again now. Forgive me, if I don't get round to you all for catch up at one go.

Love and hugsies

GrannyMo

My son coming home tomorrow from 2 weeks at cadet camp. He got me a 30p stock of rock that i cant eat due to my diabetes so he will have it and Tho I dread to think of the trouble he probably got into at camp i still Missed him

Gussypoo,

It's the thought that counts. Like getting a fridge magnet when your fridge is built-in.

Ps thanks for all nice replies to my earlier post. Taking up my crochet hooks again.

Granny I didn't mean to sound ungrateful I'm not.it's just some of the things he does to drive me crazy but still miss him....

I am thankful for my wonderful Lottie Bottie Daxie Dog who always give me something to either smile or write about. Whoops done it again put Lottie before hubby, but he is pretty wonderful too.

My wonderful husband who hugs me and makes me feel better when i've had enough. He is always there for me! Plus my beautiful baby daughter who makes me laugh everyday and melts my heart with her big huge soppy grin!

My own wonderful husband who despite smirring rain, went down to help daughter's boyfriend fix the brakes of his car.

Thankful too, that I remembered how to assist with the checking of air in the system and thus avoided the grumbles I got many moons ago when I didn't really understand the mechanics of braking system etc.

I am thankful for my loving parents and brother they have done so much for me particularly this year, whilst I have and am suffering so much with my asthma.

I truly appreciate what they have done for me.

I'm thankful for a lot of things, my AMAZING partner who has been my rock, my kind and loving friends who have been there for me and of course my beautiful guinea pigs, Patch, who saved me from myself and gave me a reason to carry on, and Alphonse who is my big baby.

Catching up with some of the posts on AUK and I'd like to say I am so very thankful for the huge bank of friends we have on here. At any one time, we can make a small request for help with our day to day niggles. We can also ask for a really big shoulder to lean on in times of grief and sadness, when the world seems an awfully big place and we seem to have lost our footing.

Thank you to all who so generously post their story and to all who come forward and offer so generously too, sympathy and a listening ear.

Grannymo x

a friend who has helped me to overcome many difficulties and without whom i'm not sure i would still be here today. It amazesme how much she cares.

I have a friend like that. Could ask for the moon and she'd be working out a way.

PS somewhat off topic. I'm thankful I said yes to babysitting on a certain date way before I realised my fave group were playing that night too. Ah well, there's always next year supposing they're still around. All the best bands are getting on in years. LOL

Two days to myself to shake off this cold. DH off on mini business trip to the frozen north. Thankful, I do not work and can stay at home.

A wee shot off getting the bed to myself and being able to have iPod pillow up loud without worrying that it will wake the mrs up !!!

A wonderful husband who can still surprise me. Out early to shop for his business trip, he suddenly pointed out a knitted coat of the sort I'd never have looked myself and said try it on, there's a mirror over there. I did and it suits me to a T. While he's away next week, I'll have a lovely jumper to cosy into and keep warm.

A wonderful Fiancee who saw I was in pain earlier, got me my hot water bottle, tucked it in with me and stayed with me till I fell asleep.

Oh and not spending my 23rd Birthday in Hospital :D

Im thankful for !

having such a close family and and sticking together and helping out

and support when needed.

Had a really tough weekend but we will muddle through xxx

this post is very sweet:

1_winged_angel A wonderful Fiancee who saw I was in pain earlier, got me my hot water bottle, tucked it in with me and stayed with me till I fell asleep.

but as ive not other half i was wondering if i could train the dogs to do this -reckon it would be possible? lol

today im thankful for - tramadol - it doesnt take the pain away completely but boy does it make moving easier.

Thanks Jay39, although dogs are wonderfully sweet too, not a day goes by that I don't miss my Judy and my tattoo of her on my arm always makes me smile.

Tramadol is good, I have had it myself, I hope your feeling a little more comfortable now *Hug*

Today, I am thankful for my best mate Nathaniel, who gave me such a lovely present for my birthday. I was shocked to open the book he gave me to find quite a sum of money, for in his own words me to ""Pamper myself.

New Grandson for GrannyMo - Name: Matthew Weight: 5lb 15 oz Time of birth: 15:01 on 10.01.11

Thankful for all the medics who assisted my daughter in labour ward and being induced. Monitor showed baby's heart rate had dropped. Rushed into theatre for emergency section, within ten minutes, baby being handed to Dad. DD spent 8 hours in recovery room. Grandparents allowed to visit at night.

Thankful too for Special Care, where baby had a wee visit yesterday afternoon when glucose levels dropped. DD on tablets for raised BP and pre-eclampsia, side effect of which would be to keep a close eye on glucose levels of wee one before every feed. Fortunately the levels came up again and toots was delivered back to mum half way through visiting.

All being well, mum and baby might be allowed out tomorrow and with dad, can start being a family.
