Roxi, 1st of all congratulations!

I have heard it said 1/3 find their asthma gets better, 1/3 it stays the same and 1/3 it gets worse. Talk it over with your midwifery team they will have met with this sort of thing before and be able to help and advise you and put in a plan for coping with your asthma during labour. I have to say womens bodies are wonderful things and although my asthma very mild when I had my 4 pregnancies I don't recall it being a problem whilst in labour.

Hi

Hi Roxi ,

Congratulations to you. I to had asthma from a very young age .I have had 2 pregnancies and they were both very diffrent. My first pregnancy my asthma was unstable right the way through . I had a normal and very quick delivery and was fine. My second was a twin pregnancy and my asthma went very mild and has remained that way ever since. I hope yours doesn't cause any problems for you. Let us know how it goes . Take Care Nikkixx

Hi Roxi

I'm 22 weeks pregnant and a brittle asthmatic. My first pregnancy ended in my daughter being born by emergnacy c-section at 35 weeks. I have only had one admission so far this pregnancy (which is alot better than last time) I'm steroid dependant too which doesnt help!

I was told by my obstetrician (spl) at the beginning of my pregnancy with Abi that if induced (or naturally go into labour) given an epidural you can actually not do anything the body will naturally go through labour and if you are too out of breath they can use forceps etc to get baby out. But also the adrenaline steroids naturally released in your body during labour actually stops alot of asthma problems in labour. I can't actually count for this first hand but this is what i've heard. I am having a planned c-section this time am hoping to get to full term though.

Are you just under a midwife or are you a high risk pregnancy and under a obstetrician too? Do you have a consultant for you asthma you could talk to? They will know you and your asthma best and be able to advise you more. But feel free to PM if you want to chat!

Its such a scary and exciting time all at the same time :) Have you had your second scan yet? Do you know what you're having? Are you feeling movements?

I'm having a little boy so will have one of each :)

Take care and look forward to hearing from you
