Asperger's/ASD and FND

Has anyone here been diagnosed with both Asperger's/ASD and FND (Functional Neurological Disorder)/Conversion Disorder? I have FND and my specialist told me he sees many FND patients who are also autistic. If so, have you found any treatments that actually work? The treatments for FND seem to be good for neurotypicals, but useless or even harmful for the neurodiverse.

Hi Van, I am not familiar with the term FND. I do have dyslexia & Aspergers, & found talk therapy helpful particularly when younger. I very much like the Alexander technique as I’ve aged. Although, I think it would have benefited me greatly & maybe even alleviated the need for talk therapy when younger, had I had access to it.

Alexander technique at least in the states is considered “alternative” healthcare so most health insurance plans won’ t cover it. I have found it helps me by incorporating relaxation techniques into everyday activities of daily living, as you go about performing them. It becomes easier to incorporate it into your entire day as you gain awareness of how poor habits are/were essential wasting energy.

I am sorry I can’t speak directly to FND, I wish you luck in locating a treatment modality that works best for you.

Thanks Clarrisa. FND affects movement and muscle tone so Alexander Technique sounds promising - thanks for the tip!
