Hi, I am 49 and was dx'd with Aspergers Syndrome in 2012, I found out later that I also have Alexithymia, Misophonia, and possible bi-polar.
It's frustrating knowing that my teachers gave up on me all through my school life, even family blamed me for all my actions and behaviours, but now I know that I was the innocent party....but life goes on.
I look forward to possible contact and exchanging experiences with other here..male or female.
Thanks.

Hello David. I was only diagnosed with Aspergers last year and I am over 50. Dr's here are very reluctant to get adults tested. My teachers just turned a blind eye except to call me defiant. I am afraid my Mother still doesn't understand why I am the way that I am.
Hi ? Well done on getting your diagnosis. Are you in the UK? Sadly some Dr's don't know enough about Autism as it's not a medical issue. Teachers haven't a clue, and sorry about your Mother, I can relate to your stress with her..her loss.
Yes the UK. Took me years to get a Dr to refer me. One Dr said there was no point referring me, as I wouldn't get better. I am very glad that this old fashioned female Gp is retiring.
