Cardiac Ablation Recovery for AVRT

Hey all! I'd like to see if anyone can weigh in on what I am going through here...

I'm a healthy 38 y/o male who got SVT suddenly in September 2021. It initially came on several hours after playing hockey, but then happened sporadically with triggers besides exercise. It would last anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. So I decided to get ablation in June 2024 since it seemed like SVT episodes were getting worse. EP said it was AVRT and they are confident the SVT was cured. In the past month since the ablation, however, I have had trouble sleeping due to palpitations, shivers, and the feeling of SVT but with a pulse less than 120bpm. Recovery has been brutal and in some cases worse than the SVT. EP says this is normal during recovery, however, it feels like the fast pulse was cured but it feels even more crippling when the triggers happen due to the internal jolts that feel like SVT. Main triggers include 2-3 hours after exercise and trying to take naps (naps fail and generally can't sleep for more than a few hours over the next two days). Is this indicative of a new problem or a failed ablation? Any advice would help. Thank you!

it’s supposed to take 3 months for heart to heal after an ablation . It’s a shock to the heart and the scar tissue has to heal. Take it easy, don’t over do it. You have to wait and see . There is a 95% success! Unfortunately I am of the 5% failure. Had 5 ablations. I am a complicated case and and don’t tolerate medication so having a pacemaker and AV ablation. I hope your will work for you, good luck.

Thanks for the reply! Hoping it's just a healing thing, too. Hope your situation improves as well.

I had my ablation for SVT 9 months ago, I,m getting similar symptoms to you but I,m a lot older so thought this was the reason. I have the feeling of my heart trying to go into SVT mostly at night when I,m asleep, pulse goes up to 90 and blood pressure is high then goes down within 10 minutes. Apparently they cauterised 3 pathways in my heart so I come to the conclusion that the heart is damaged anyway and is acting different. I get tired quicker after being a very active person and lived with this SVT for a very long time so I,m happy I don’t have to be going to the hospital to have it reversed to normal but there’s always that fear it will come back. I would say to you hold in there you are young and would recover better because you are young, give it time!
