HF diagnosis aged 42
Hi Mike, Hope you are well, I've just joined here, i'm 48, had heart attack (11th july 2024) Cardiac Arrest and had two ops, for 4 stents, I am in the boat too! Shock is understatement! I live on the South Coast, Portsmouth. Mentally i'm not too bad, but depression was the main cause, smoking and not exercising, not leaving the house for 8 years! Obviously now im reborn/reset, quit smoking, eating now which i hardly was doing! How were you diagnosed? I was taken to hospital in an ambulance, so it was all very quick for me, and probably, if i am honest, still trying to get my head around all this!! All the best to you sir! hope to liase with you and we can chat!
Hi Gandalf,
My god that’s a lot ! Well done you on getting through it ! Yes former smoker here (if I’m completely honest I still have the odd one ) I know crazy!
I had been feeling ill for a year kept going the doctors and usual blood tests coming back normal than had heart attack June and off to Blackpool vic , echo scan diagnosed heart failure ejection fraction 25/30 which I’m told is really bad .
Managing to get by with help of friends and family but live alone . Awaiting a cardiac MRI to determine any treatments and currently on eplerenone bisoprolol and dapagafloxin what about you ?
How are you feeling now ?doing ok I hope ? Really if you to reach out thank you
I was diagnosed around your age. I’m now 63. I’ve had my ups and downs then ups, but because of the new meds I’m still here, although I’m now at the end of the ladder, I have dilated cardiomyopathy which caused mine and it’s progressive, I’m still hopeful for all you young ones. I decided to give up work at 60, but all through my diagnoses I worked, saw my nurse and cardiologist 6 monthly. 5 years ago I began seeing my cardiologist 6 monthly even during covid.
Hi Deejay
Thank you so much for your message and sharing . It certainly seems a journey I’m sorry to hear it’s toward the end but sounds like you’ve managed very well may I ask what meds have worked well for you ?
Best
Michael
