Sorry Pumkins Kate (my daughter) was on a low dosage for a year. She was not pregnant so we cannot help. She switched from Risperidone and was much better.
Best of luck
Hi Pumpkins,
The best thing to do is get preconception advice from a Perinatal Psychiatrist who is specialised in what medication is safe to take in pregnancy, and your friend's own particular risk of relapse. Sometimes they recommend that people carry on taking medication during pregnancy, other times they recommend you take once the baby has been born, it just depends.
There are specialist perinatal mental health teams across England now, and also in most parts of Wales and Scotland, so your friend should be able to be referred to her local perinatal mental health team. She can do this by going to her GP.
You can also find out about mental health medications and their side effects here on the National Centre for Mental Health website: choiceandmedication.org/ncmh/
I hope this is helpful
