I haven't - but I think you may find some information by searching for "bipolar disorder vs borderline personality disorder" as those two disorders are frequently confused for each other or misdiagnosed, and PP is sometimes thought of an episode of bipolar. From my experience with friends, myself, and being on psych wards - people with borderline personality disorder (or any PD really) don't experience many psychotic symptoms, and if they do they are very "mild" and only last up to a few hours. There's quite a lot of info about this online, or you could ask your GP or psychiatrist about it, and how each diagnosis does or does not apply to you? (and how PP fits in there!)

Yes. When I was in the throws of ppp we saw a couples counselor and she kept saying I had bpd. I did not and she was totally wrong. She missed the PP completely...

How did you challenge it?

Hi marieannelee

I remember that there was a post a few years ago where someone was misdiagnosed with personality disorder. Here it is: healthunlocked.com/app-netw....

Her story is quite awful, she has written other posts since if you look it up. I think she still uses this site a bit so maybe she wouldn't mind if you private messaged her?

Hope that helps

Ellie

Are you able to read my message to Anne? It's a full story about what has happened to me. I am happy for Anna to read it to. I am really struggling with any dealings I have to have with the NHS as they have let me down so much. Last night I had a major breakdown again as was convinced that people were trying to attack me. I was running around locking doors and windows and my partner had to calm me down. Much of what happened he is telling me as I am really struggling with recalling what is going on.

Hi Marie Anne

I'm so sorry you had an awful night. I'm not surprised that you find it difficult to trust professionals after everything you've been through...

I can't read your message to Anne I'm afraid, only messages written directly to me.

Are you on any anti psychotic medication or have you ever been on any? It really sounds like you may need to try other meds? Have you got anywhere yet with a possible referral to the second opinion psychiatry service with Ian Jones?

Thinking of you and hoping you're having an ok day today x

Hi Ellie

I am really unwell at the moment - I go through periods of normality but at other times my behaviour is at best to put it completely erratic. I cannot go out of the house now for fear of being attacked. I can't answer the phone, open letters or make telephone calls. Emails I can do because I can control that. It comes with a fear of being out of control and that's when the anxiety starts leading to other things. I will speak to my G.P tomorrow because she is the only one I can trust.

Hi Marie Anne

I'm so sorry you are so unwell at the moment, you sound really scared. That's good you trust your GP. Do speak to her tomorrow it does sound like you really need a change in meds? Maybe you can give her info about the second opinion psychiatry service too? She can also refer you as well as your psychiatric team.

I really hope you can get the support you need. Thinking of you a lot. You can write here whenever you need to . Xx

Hello marieannelee

I hope you are ok and that your G.P will be able to listen and support you today. Perhaps she will be able to signpost you to community care from professionals who could visit you at home?

Please keep in touch if we can help. Take care.
