I’ve just purchased one of these for my Mum who lives 4hrs from me. Linked to wi fi and left on permanently I will have the ability to “drop in”to her with video calling and to answer she doesn’t have to touch anything. Wondering if anyone else has used one of these?

Thanks

Nice out of the box thinking. A year ago when such monitoring abilities became necessary in my case, we went out and purchased an inexpensive (like 19 bones) "IP cam" from Amazon (but it was not an Amazon product). This was a basic webcam with a wifi card. You program it, then poke a hole in your homes' firewall and forward a port to that cam and you are set up. With the right password my caregiver can access the cam 24/7, complete with 2-way audio, video and time-lapse still capture and on one of them nearly 360 degrees of cam control. That said the first time she tried to contact us (me and my two little-buddy rescue hounds) from afar, my normally-sweet voiced wife/caregiver sounded like Freddy Kruger*. Scared the hell out of the dogs; haven't used it since....

Thanks for your replies.Rather than spying on her we were just wanting another way to contact mum if, for instance, she forgets to put the phone back on the hook. I’m trying it out this week and can hopefully post some feed back.
