Yoga and AF

There have been reports in the news papers recently about yoga helping to minimise the number of AF attacks. Has anyone tried this or is it just press hype.

Hi Haystacks!

I have tried it, and continue to use it. There are certain poses called "heart opening" poses that I do every single day. I have had fewer AF episodes since starting it. Not only that, it is very relaxing and strengthening at the same time so it is all good for heart health and general wellness. Go for it!

Hi Haystacks and SRMGrandma,

Here's another Yogi in support of this practice. I find the pranayama, breathing, helps to stave off an episode if I start soon enough, and if one occurs then it certainly keeps me calm and slows my heart rate. Just had my first Reiki treatment today SRMGrandma!! Wonderful, and it will work well for me. Have found an amazing master who is totally on my wave length and feel so excited about being back on the holistic track. A big thank you for the post about your experience.

Wow, that's great news lizzily! Isn't it a wonderful feeling after the Reiki? And yes, I too have felt that I was about to flip into AF and I started to do the breathing and stayed in NSR. I am totally on board with the holistic approach. Keep me posted on how it is going for you!
