Hi, I have had AF for a while now and my condition isn't being helped with medication as well as it was since I had a frightening episode whilst at work late November last year. I am booked to have an
ablation next month. I think this is for the best as my last ECG read my pulse at 40 beats per minute due to the beta blockers. Is there anyone with a similar case to me that tell me if the ablation worked for you? I'm 46 years old and a mum of three so I'm quite worried.

adria67, there are many of us on here that have been in the same situation. There are actually 4 or 5 of us who have had the ablation in the last couple of months. And I believe that if you read through the blogs and posts you will see that we all have a very positive outcome.
Mine was 6 weeks ago. And honestly I just went to the hospital, went to sleep and when I woke up it was over. I had minor pains (mainly from being on my back for a day) but really nothing to need meds for and I was pretty tired for a few weeks and have been getting stronger since. I had a few attacks in the first few weeks after (which the dr said would happen) but they were so mild that I hardly noticed them. My attacks prior were very violent and lasted 6 to 8 hours. Since then I either have not had an attack OR they are so mild that I just don't know I'm having them.
The Dr said it will take 3 to 4 months for the scar material to build up and then we will be able to see how it worked... But I have had an amazing improvement already.
If needed I would do it again without question. BTW, I'm 58.
Thank you Tim, I have read through a few blogs now and together with your reply, am feeling much more optimistic about having the ablation done next month. I wish you all the best
Same here andria67, I had my ablation on 3/25 and had no problems. Never felt any pain. Like Tim said, a little discomfort from laying down afterwards. But doing much better now. I have not had any flutters since. Thank God. I was told the same thing, that it takes 3 months to really know the outcome so I am taking it easy for now. I am a mom as well of 3 boys and 41yo. I also would do it again if I needed it. Good luck!!!! I will be praying for ya.
Hi Naomi , thank you for replying. I am pleased to hear you are doing well and I hope you continue to go forward flutter free! I so hope it works for me as the fluttering and feeling so tired is getting on my nerves now. I have all boys too
You will do good!!! I will admit I was scared and tears filled my eyes when I went into the EP lab. You can't help that. I was amazed at how painless it was. I am sure some people have more pain than others but mine was not. I focused so much on my flutters before the procedure and I'm sure that's what made them worse. It really drained me as well. I was tired all the time. I had it done on monday 3/25 and back to work the following Monday. I felt better every day. I still took it easy and I am still doing that. I haven't had a flutter since!!! Thank God!!!! I will be praying your procedure goes as well. This forum really did help me through it!!! So I hope it does the same for you!! If you have ANY questions as I know I did, ask away!!! Tim was a great help as well since he went through his right before I went through mine. ??
