Is salt intake causing your AF? If not, and you just wish to reduce the salt in your diet I suggest you Google 'low salt diet'. Note that you cannot, and should not, cut all salt out of your diet.

High salt diets can contribute to high blood pressure which would increase your stroke risk but low salt levels can have their own problems.

Found this study which if you read on is shot down in flames by the end of the page!! Interesting though, you have to know how to interpret research.

Husband (permanent AF, old MI, longstanding hypertension valvular disease) and I ( well controlled paroxysmal AF) both try and restrict salt. I don't use salt in cooking but do have a sprinkle on the last couple of mouthfuls on my plate!! We find eating out or at friends makes us very aware of our salt reduction. If we've eaten out we don 't have to get up for a pee that night, so reckon fluid retention occurs!! We just try to avoid processed food. Don't ever try to buy a low salt can of soup or even worse a packet. I can stand In Morrison's for hours wringing my hands!! Lemon juice and spices are a good substitute.

It's all good fun.
