been on pill in the pocket flecanide ... - Atrial Fibrillati...
been on pill in the pocket flecanide for 1 year recently attacks have become more frequent how safe is the drug to take daily (100 mg)
I have been taking Flecanide 100mg twice a day plus another 100 mg for break thru runs for over 4 yrs without any problems .
good to hear a positive response about the drug already feeling less stressed!thank youJuls54 regards Willhall
I started off with pill-in-the-pocket Flecainide, but was changed to a daily dose which has given me very good control over several years following a partially successful ablation.
I take 50mg daily, but have been on 100mg. Provided you've been screened with an exercise test and haven't had a previous heart attack, there is lots of evidence that Flecainide is a very safe drug. At 50mg I have no side effects, but at 100mg and over that I feel a bit nauseous. Changing from generic Flecainide (i.e. another drug company's copy of the original) to Tambocor (the original version of Flecainide) gave a reduction in the nausea.
Don't worry - this is a good drug. Regards, Chris H.
This trend to increased frequency is not the drug failing I have been told but the natural tendency for AF to beget AF so the longer you have it the more likely it will increase in frequency.. As Chris says proper screening to ensure that there is no underlying heart damage is important.
Good to "see" you here too Chris..
I have been on Flecainide 50mg twice a day for 11 years with a short period of 3 times a day, am now back to twice a day. I have had no ill effects from this drug although it doesn't stop episodes it does seem to minimise them. In my experience it seems to be a safe drug with little side effects. Good luck!
