Had episode of AF in September treated in hospital & reverted on own/beta blockers after 48h. Echo all good. Been doing well but have suddenly gone back into AF. Have taken bisoprolol this morning & waiting to see if helps. Wondering if I need to go back in to hospital . Am waiting to hear back from pacing unit in cardiology dept

Recurrence AF
If your heart rate is fast (120+BPM) and/or you feel unwell, go to the hospital. You should get an ECG, to confirm AF. If you do have AF, IV flecainide will most likely sort you out, providing you have no contraindications.
You only need to go in if you feel unwell, breathless, dizzy, pain in chest or neck. That is unless you have been told otherwise by cardio team.
So have finally spoken to someone - told to take another bisoprolol & then may be worth considering going to A& E. HR has come down a little but still AF. Arryhthmia nurse suggested that they might cardiovert me in A&E as I am within 24h of going back in to AF. Feel ok & have private appointment in morning with consultant so really torn what to do as not looking forward to a long wait in A& E & then they may not do anything other than monitor me. Does anyone have experience of going in to A& E & being converted straightaway.
The dreaded experience of A &E waits, too many this year. The actual eventual treatment has been excellent, but the waits were a nightmare. I will do anything to avoid them in future. Of course sometimes it is inevitable, but I can't help feeling sometimes it is a case of the system passing the buck / playing it safe, dump it on A&E, when in reality a better option might be to ride it out at home if it's not life threatening. Just my thoughts.
