I have been given a different brand of Rivaroxaban this time, these are Amarox, small grey tablets. Last month it was a different brand still, seems supply is patchy after years of the same consistent brand. Not happy as I like to stick with a proven brand which suits my body. Flecainide is a drug that is varied manufacturer wise, some work for me others dont, although they are meant to have the same ingredients. My doctor now specifies a specific brand to the chemist and low and behold they comply. I wonder if cost is implicated.
Thank you Meadfoot, I also like to stick with same brand, and I wondered if it was a financial reason.Good to know Dr can request a specific brand and I will definitely request that if these affect me in any way.
mine were changed the last time, now they no longer have the day of the week on them - it really scrambled my brain, as I depend on that to make sure I don’t miss a dose - I have fibromyalgia and get brain fog and get confused/ forgetful. I think I need to have a chat with the surgery pharmacist. I have tried different ways to remind me to take it and still made mistakes.
Thank you for your reply.I completely relate to this. I'm often questioning myself as to if I have taken or not, I'd be lost without the days printed - my last lot were in French - that taxed my brain!
My mum used to have a little plastic pot with days marked on, she would fill it every Sunday, could you look at something similar?
I had Xarelto that the days were in French, soooooo confusing! I thinking will talk to the surgery pharmacist as since having the generic brand, Ivan getting bad headaches and gut issues and that is the only change. I write on the box the date I took the first one of that pack, then each time due to take, I count the days .
I had a generic brand given to me about 6 months ago, I have always had Bayer Rivaroxaban (Xerealto) since 2014. Can not remember the name of the generic brand, did not notice at first it looked very similar but the side effect was that I could not sleep at night. I got it changed within a week. My prescription s now for Bayer. I have four other medications that I have had to get the GP to name by brand on my monthly prescription, partly due to many of the generic have a high amount of lactose in their fillers plus additives that do not agree with me,I am lactose intolerant. For 8 years I had hardly any problems with my midication but when the generic brands came out it was a nightmare not knowing what you would get and if they suited you. I have had to battle with chemists who would not get the brand I needed because of costs. At the moment I have a very good pharmacist who supplies the brands I need. It is mainly about costs, so good luck getting your GP to note it and with your pharmacy to get it for you.
Ask your GP to prescribe it by brand name if the generic causes problems. I take an opiate painkiller that has to be prescribed that way because I react so badly to the generics. It's something to do with the fillers or colourings they use. The brand name costs more but they will do it if you have problems.
Exactly the same thing has happened to me, I'm due to start the new packet on Monday so I'll have to watch out for adverse reactions. When they did something similar with my Calcium channel blocker I had awful upset stomach problems and had to ask my surgery to "name" the old brand on my prescription and so far no more problems. Keeping fingers firmly crossed.
