why do they refuse to carry out any more procedures when It’s known I have a enlarged left ventricle, what is the reasoning behind it , it was never explained. As before hand when cardio version failed after 24 - 48 hrs cardiologist stated there was other procedures could be done eg ablations etc .once when they realised I had a enlarged left ventricle, oh there be no more procedures done, medication only to try and control this .

The problem is called left-ventricular hypertrophy, or "LVH". I think it eventually is said to affect up to a fifth of all people as we get older. It seems it is often the result of other heart or circulation-related issues, so these will need to be diagnosed and treated, too. From reading, important ones seems to be high blood pressure (hypertension), obesity, diabetes and heart valve dysfunction. Why an ablation can't be done likely relates to the overall picture of your heart's health, but I have read that ablations are less likely to succeed when LVH is present.

These are, though, all questions for your doctor, as he or she will know the full background to your heart's current condition.

That's makes sense to me now Pipman LVH while I was sitting after having my Cardio Conversion. My notes were sitting beside me and of course I lifted them and started reading flicking through them and I seen LVH noted along with my other conditions I had not a clue what LVH stood for as I was never told I had this complaint. Baffled I am ..why I wasn't made aware of this condition before now. Hmmm.. confidence very low in my health care now.

I would be asking my GP to explain as he or she will have the report from the specialist. I have great faith in doctors to know from experience the best course of action. When they fail to explain things, it’s a shame but often, I suppose, they don’t want to add to our anxieties.

I often think that the problem with the heart is that by the time we notice it’s not working as well as it should, the causes have been very many years in the making. These might be such things as genetic or inherited aspects, lack of exercise, poor diet, excess weight, high blood pressure and so on.
