I was told mine weren’t a problem three weeks ago, I can’t see the details on yours but I will upload mine. Ventricular bigeminy caused by being startled awake …. Obviously I am only relaying what I was told in my situation but i have had a few and no one seems concerned with mine. I hope you feel better soon. I can see it is late for you and maybe it is keeping you awake so I thought I’d respond so maybe you wouldn’t worry
Thankyou for the reply. For the last few weeks I have suddenly started having lots of Arrythmias after being in NSR for 13 months.I am in touch with Arrythmia nurses but the situation is they told me a few days ago to see how I go over the next few weeks. It is just that bigeminy is new.
Bigeminy on its own is not usually a big concern. Cardiac arrythmias and ectopic beats often go hand in hand with other conditions. For example, someone with valvular dysfunction or partially blocked arteries might experience them. There are many, many reasons and sometimes there is no reason or cause found.
So, the best person to chat to about them is your doctor. They know your cardiac condtion, and health history, and can advise if theyre something to be concerned about. New symptoms should always be reported. If it turns out to be nothing, like it is for alot of people, then all's good. If it turns out that it is something, your doctor will have a heads up.
I have constant bigeminy and occasional trigeminy.
Bigeminy is when your heart beats twice for a single beat, so for a heart rate of 90 with bigeminy it's 180. Add in an arrhythmia and you have a mad drummer playing in your chest - I always picture Animal from The Muppets. Life is never quiet!
So far the bigeminy hasn't been a cause for concern but I do get fed up of it.
A GP in our practice brought a student into a consultation to listen to my heart with the words 'you need to listen to this, it's really interesting'. Not the most comforting words to hear when you are concerned about your heart 😂.
It might be a good idea to see your GP and they will give you all the facts.
Thanks a lot for the info.I am monitoring.Like your Muppets picture.I always picture my AFib as a little stickman waving his knickers in the air shouting I'm here). Arrythmia nurse says all these Arrythmias is the AFib trying to break through.I think it is hammering on the walls after being looked up for 13 months.
Hi, I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to stress over it, tell it to park in the grounds/go back to its cell/ sit down with a cup of tea - whatever image comes to mind until you see a doctor. I have just been reading a book called simply ‘Heart’ by an American cardiologist and he devotes quite a lot of the book to showing how out emotions affect our hearts, and in one chapter he demonstrates the ‘feedback loop’ where the arrhythmia causes anxiety and the anxiety causes the arrhythmia to worsen. This may be why so many people are diagnosed with ‘anxiety ‘ - doctors are aware that anxiety causes palpitations but don’t think as far as palpitations causing anxiety in the first place.
For over a year after my ablation for PAF I had bouts of bigeminy, and sometimes trigeminy, especially after eating. They have gradually settled down, and although they can still occur they now last less than a minute, often when I'm over hungry.
I sent Kardia tracings of this to my EP's team, but they said it was not a worry and I should ignore it.
