Hi Myflowers2,

I have both AF and Sjogren's Syndrome. My antibody tests (years ago) were negative but the advice is to treat the symptoms whether positive or not. The dry orifices are known as Sicca symptoms. For me, that is the biggest nuisance, especially my dry eyes. I haven't had a major flare for several years. It's an autoimmune condition and has a variety of effects. There are some forums online . They vary in their activity but feel free to check them out. From what I remember the community on HealthUnlocked isn't as active.

I suffer from dry eye and it has been very painful in the past but now I use eye gel daily rather than drops as the gel lasts longer 'Hycosan Extra' as recommended by my optician. I also have very dry skin for which I have to daily apply moisturisers and for my 'other' areas I use a lubricant as necessay. I have found that this has worsened as ive got older.

I have AF and Sjogrens. The Sjogrens wreaks havoc on my teeth! I just lost a front tooth while eating last night. Must have swallowed it. So frustrating. I’ve had extensive dental work over the years. But just doesn’t cut it. I made an appointment for a consult to get full arch implants upper and lower. But it’s so expensive!

Yes I have sjogrens. Fortunately the lack of saliva isn't too b ad. I cope by drinking with every mouthful of food but eh dry eyes are awful. I have used hylonight, morning and night for years until recently. It's very sticky but after half an hour or so it doesn't affect my vision during teh day and keeps them fairly moist. Two weeks ago it was out of stock so I tried Xailin. It's lovely; much less sticky and you only need a tiny amount and it lasts well. I found with artificial tears , I was putting them in every 10 minutes. It can also cause very dry skin and constipation.

Never diagnosed, but for several years I would frequently experience times where I was unable to open my eyes when I awoke in the morning; my eyelids would be stuck to my corneas. I would have to gently massage them open with my fingers. Some months after going gluten free, this and many other painful autoimmune related symptoms improved. The stuck eyelids have never return

Hi there! Yes, I have both. Had to have a lip biopsy to confirm Sjögren's because I was seronegative. Fortunately, my symptoms are not severe. Dry mouth mostly at night for which I use xylimelt tablets.
