I had an ablation over 10 years ago. In all I've had 3 major Afib bouts over the years involving evacuations and the last one a cardioversion. It was 18 months ago in California. Finally I was seen by a cardiologist in UK and he almost immediately offered me a further ablation saying something could by now need updating (my word!) but more or less leaving the decision to me. He is going to do a cardio monitor and CT sometime but how do I make the decision? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yep, i understand why they give the "its up to you" but personally i would prefer a "in my opinion you should have this ".........
Take some Response - Ability for your own health. Educate yourself - look at what type of ablation, who would be doing it, what experience have they, how many do they perform each year, consider your age and fitness an how does AF impact your life. Are you happy as you are or striving for better?
The decision to have or not should be a joint decision between your and your doctor - when you just do as doctor advises you leave yourself open. Ask questions, delving questions - how do you think another ablation would help me? Would further ablations risk scarring and fibrosis?
Have the tests because until you do, those questions may not be answerable.
