Hi, had my 2nd Ablation 13th Dec, was going great then this afternoon had a 2 hour episode, I know it’s to be expected these episodes but feel so down today. Just feeling sorry for myself
2nd Ablation : Hi, had my 2nd Ablation... - Atrial Fibrillati...
2nd Ablation
Of course you are and it’s not surprising, but the reality is an ablation is a procedure, not an operation, so it doesn’t always provide an instant solution. The scars need heal before they can prevent the rogue impulses from doing their their worst. If you know it, you have to try and accept it…..you will be fine!
Thanks Flapjack, feel much better today
After my 2nd ablation I had a run of af on about 3 occasions, my last sustained af was 13 months ago, so cheer up this is all quite normal, and I’m sure after your heart has healed you too will have a nice run of been af free 👍
Keep improving lifestyle choices and chances are in a year you will be more than pleased!
Do you take Flecinaide or something similar?
Yes I do, took extra as advised by my cardiologist when in a episode
How much and often do you take it? Thanks.
50 mg twice a day and 100 mg as a PIP 😄
This is so weird, I mean after my ablation I was told no more Flecainide as I agreed taking it at times felt it was actually encouraging the af. I then, post procedure had a very difficult 3 days of serious episodes and was put back on the Flecainide but only for a month, as directed by the cardiologist at the hospital. Since then I've had no more Flec since and that was March/April last year. It seems that different medical experts have different views on whether to keep us taking the meds. I still take Bisoprolol and Apixaban daily. Stay well, you're on the right road and give yourself time to heal and try not to worry....all is par for the course!

Glad you're feeling better today. It's less than a month so if the AF went away- even if it needed a bit of help- I wouldn't worry too much. People report getting a random episode even up to 12 months after, and then none following. You're still well within the blanking period, so you may get more. Just stay calm and ride it out if you can.
I hope everything is settling down for you now. ~Rest up and take care.
