This drug seems to be of Japanese origin and I have no knowledge of its use or availablilty here in UK

According to at least one study, both drugs appear comparable in terms of both efficacy and tolerability. One difference is that Flecainide is dosed 2x/day and Pilsicainide dosed 3x/day because of shorter half life. It would be interesting to know if Pilsicainide is frequently paired with a nodal blocking agent such as a beta blocker, as is the case with Flecainide. Thanks for bringing this drug to our attention as it's not as well known here as Flecainide.

(JUST LOST THE STUDY I WAS REFERRING TO. I'LL LOOK LATER UNLESS SOMEONE FINDS IT FIRST :))

Not sure if this is the article you mentioned, but I found this (old) 2017 PubMed article ...

"Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation recurrences and quality of life in symptomatic patients: A crossover study of flecainide and pilsicainide" ...

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Thanks Bob. It was different, but basically came to the same conclusion. Good to know that there are alternative out there.

It looks an interesting medication for atrial fibrillation, with a good safety profile since 1991. Have you been prescribed this medication in Germany by an EP or cardiologist or GP? Daily?

SAWAI seems to be the Japanese pharmaceutical company who market this drug.

Actually Dr. Ohtsuka has made good experience with it and he wanted to prescribe it to me as a precaution for possible rebound.

Prayers and good luck to you 🤞 I'm in Texas with Dr. Wolf at this time. Are you having surgery?

I had it already, however the recovery isn't so easy for me. Thank you for your good wishes, the same to you. Did you have it already?

Yes, I had it Wednesday 12-6-23. I'm in and out of NSR taking Sotalol at this time. There has been a few hiccups, hopefully all will settle down soon. Keep in touch 😊

I also had to restart bisoprolol, which as usual also lowers my blood pressure considerably. As I had orthostatic hypotension since my teens it's a bit difficult. However, being already off apixaban feels really good.

The 1st couple of days my blood pressure was low, but shot back up and back on medication to try and stabilize it. I just want it to be normal and not have to take anymore medications. Hopefully we will get there.

Exactly that is my goal as well.
