I hope you are all well on the way to being ready for Christmas. I think we have most presents sorted apart from a couple of small items.
Just finished making a second batch of stuffings for Boxing Day when most of our guests will be here.
All the decorations are up around the house. Just as well as it is raining like a water fall outside. Even our family of squirrells are wearing wet suits and scuba gear!
Remember to take it easy with the Gluwine and above all don't get stressed!

I am not at all ready for Christmas. We got back on the weekend from wonderful 2 week trip to Tasmania where we went to celebrate a good friend’s 60th.
And this message comes to you tonight from my hospital bed - thankfully not AF related. I had knee surgery today and will be on crutches for 2-3 weeks. Christmas lunch is at our house as usual but it will be more low key this year than usual. I’ve told all the family to bring food. I’ll be limping and my daughter who is wonderful cook will be about 36 weeks pregnant so we’ll be getting waited on together 😂 The kids will be getting cash in envelopes as I haven’t shopped, and won’t be.
Oh wow! Well done for getting the knee surgery over, Kaz - and very best wishes for good healing and recovery Your pared down Christmas sounds lovely to me, though I hope you and your daughter do get waited on! Xx
Hi Kaz, loved seeing your photos of Tassie, but don't envy you the knee surgery. Hope your recovery goes well and you all enjoy your Xmas together looking forward to the new arrival making an appearance! Best wishes for good health in 2024, and to everyone on this lovely forum, and thanks to Bob and Co for all the great advice. 🎄🎉🥂🎄🎉🥂
Thanks Angle - I came home from hospital at lunchtime today so have been dozing on the couch. You never get too much sleep in hospital 😂. I’m thanksgiving that my heart behaved perfectly throughout.
So far have only got some baking prepared - the Christmas cake just had its tipple of Captain Morgans, but going easy this year. We’re a long way off from getting any decorations up but getting the stuffing made - a great idea. What a deluge - hope everyone is dry and snug.
I'm impressed, Bob. When my brother said his partner was writing Christmas cards on Sunday I thought I'd better start some preparations. I've started making a list but got distracted by sorting some papers. I won't get stressed. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends. X
Hearing such impressive preparedness for Christmas would usually send me into a panic, as I’m not anywhere near ready… But I’m trying to stay calm and unbothered this year! It’s also my husband’s 50th birthday before Christmas which I’ve prepared nothing for, yet 😐 But health conditions (not AF) are a big limiting factor in how much I can do, so I’m trying to go with the flow. And what doesn’t get done… doesn’t get done!
But of course you may find us turning up at yours for Boxing Day lunch 😂
I have decorated a tree with woodland animals and some lost penguins. I am going to spend Christmas with one of my daughters so just getting presents and trying not to catch anything nasty! But when I moved I mislaid a lot of things, one of them being the Christmas card list which I have never put on my iPad. I’m very tempted to send e-cards though…..
The local ducks have formed rowing eights and are racing on the river in front of my flat.
yes Bob we’re about the same stage here minus the rain 😁 my wife has made the Christmas tree decorations this year and I must say a good job even tiny little boxes hanging off the tree. The only thing I’m wishing is no Cardioversion 5 days before Christmas like last year! All the best mate and thanks for your sound advice over the last year or so 🙏
You’re a lot more prepared than we are - though I usually get there in the end. Those stuffings sound good - always think the trimmings are the best part. There will be 12 of us on Christmas Day - won’t fit around the table!
Cheers Bob, hope he brings you everything you asked for 🎅
Going home from cardiac short stay later this morning after my Cryoablation yesterday. I have the perfect excuse to do nothing until after Christmas, so far all good.
Happy Christmas to you and yours Bob and thank you for all the support and advice over another year. My Christmas wishes extend to everyone on here. Have a lovely, peaceful time everyone. and as always, stay well!
Sending best wishes for a happy and healthy Christmas and New Year.
It’s got so cold that it even seems to have affected my foxes’ amorous intentions! None of the normal nighttime noise.
As for Xmas prep - decorations are up and cards written. However husband has been called for Jury Service just before Xmas and then in the bit between Xmas and NYear - so I’ll have peace and quiet to get all my stuff done. He’s really not happy as the courts have extended the length of each day and not given a recess between the Bank Holidays as there is such a backlog!
…… Did you hear about the person who rang Jesus College Cambridge on Christmas Day? When the phone was answered, they asked: ‘Is that Jesus?’ ‘Yes’ came the reply. The caller then sang ‘Happy Birthday to You’.
Thanks Bob, wife is busy finishing all sorts of things she has been making for the little ones for Christmas. I've told her she is going to have to start to do all next year's stuff in January! It doesn't look as if my new tooth and bridge will be totally sorted by Christmas so don't know what we are going to have for dinner - maybe stuffings and gravy - I should be able to manage chicken - the cake is absolutely sozzled in whisky - dundee cake this year so no icing to make and fuss over - I will be able to eat that with a piece of cheese. All relatives abroad so we are hoping to have a second Christmas sometime later when my bridgework is finished and I can eat proper food again. MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!
It seems so popular nowadays to grumble about Christmas and how soon the adverts are on Tv in November … me? Thanks to my beloved (now passed) mum, who adored Xmas, she used to be playing Nat King Cole by mid November 😂, and she made Xmas so special that I am one of those annoying people who adores this time of year.
So, our trees (3) and all house decked up by 1 December, cards written and sent…let’s face it there has to be some upside to having all this time on my hands from having to give up work due to AF, so bring it on!
Xmas cake made 3 weeks ago, and then we head off to the sun for 15 nights over the Xmas period so best of both for us…
This forum and the people on it have been a goldmine of info on AF for me, especially at the beginning of my bewildering diagnosis, for which I am very grateful…to the extent that my cardiologist never fails to say during our consultations “I know you like to be very informed” (thank you all)…
So whatever state your AF is in, I hope everyone has a peaceful and untroubled Xmas and though it’s a bit early.. all the best for 2024.😊
Hello there. Was going to PM you as you have been a bit quiet lately. We were down your way.....well, Tiverton, recently, but a flying visit so no time to organise a catch up!
Hope all is well with you.
What happened to Beancounter? Do you know...he disappeared off here ages ago.
Was very supportive when I was first diagnosed over 10 years ago.
Wishing you a happy christmas and a healthy as possible, 2024!
A very happy Christmas and a very healthy New Year to you all 🎄🎅🎄🎅Thanks Bob for all your support👏
We had our Christmas lunch with our local U3A. Told my partner that's his Christmas sorted as we are still living out of boxes after our hectic move and my ablation. I have a microwave and a toaster at hand so we wont starve. I put some lights on the piles of furniture and said DONE! 😄
