Calcium channel blockers often cause swollen ankles.

Somewhat of a lengthy overview, scroll down for side effects. Link 2 is a recent thread.
Fluid retention may be the most concerning. But many would say the benefits far outweigh the side effects. Consult with your doctor if there is a negative effect.
Many side effects for different people. Trial and error I'm afraid. You might read the leaflets contained in each pack, if they don't frighten you, tho. Of course, It is possible you won't have any side effects. Good luck

I've been on the same 3 drugs since April this year with no noticeable side effects other than, maybe, being a bit 'slower'! This combination has worked well for me so far, with only one very minor blip in August but I was also fighting a chest infection which may have caused it. Hope this helps but it is important to remember that not everyone reacts the same. Keep well.
I was given Diltiazem and was allergic to it; came up in a rash evrywhere on second day. It was pretty obvious.
I'm on Apixaban and Diltiazem. Obviously, with the Apixaban, innocent cuts bleed a little longer and minor bumps can create spectacular bruising.Diltiazem caused swollen ankles and feet initially, as I was on quite a high dose. I took a diuretic for a while and things settled down. A much better alternative to the Bisoprolol I was originally on. I'm on half the dose now and only have to take a diuretic once in a while, but some of that is down to a dodgy mitral valve.
Flecanide didn't agree with me, making my AF worse, but others on the forum swear by it.
I suffered from fluid retention when put on Diltiazem, still do but nowhere near as bad as those early days. My GP helped me sort out what dose was best for me and I’m now on 60mg slow release once a day. Still get fluid retention, as I say, but not as bad as when on higher doses.
Hi
Diltiazem CCB AM was the best for my rapid H/R Day at rest but I started off with 180mg and Bisoprolol 5mg PM.
180mg although 1/2 dose was too much. I dropped 105bpm within 2 hours. I was light headed.
On long 2-4 hours driving in the heat my ankles swell. But overnight raising the feet it comes down. I feel they would have become swollen no matter what meds.
Otherwise with their 1/2 Day cover (with me) do the control of H/R.
Now been on it 20 months anf H/R Day avg at rest is now 60s.
